Outlock – For turning soft jaws on the self-centering chucks

FEATURES

The OUTLOCK device has been developed by CDMeccanica to afford faultness turning or grinding of the soft jaws applied on all machine tools including self-centering chucks.

The use of the OUTLOCK device affords the following advantges:

elimination of any stock clamping inaccuracy thanks to the strict concentricity and squareness achieved in relation to the spindle axis;
no waste of time to prepare the jaws’ — LOCK slots machining;
remarkable wear reduction owing to the easy and micrometric adjustment of the claws;
total elimination of radial band axial end floats.

ART. 525 NC – 575 NC These tools distinguish themeselves from the standard “OUTLOCK” devices by their exeptional and thoroughly tested sturdiness. These special features have been developed to meet the requirements of digitally controlled turning processes. Their utility is especially recognized whenever the self-centering device is to be blocked under very heavy gripping conditions (about 13.000 kg. units) either during the jaws’ — LOCK slots machining or re-setting stages.

CALCULATION OF THE JAWS’ GRIFFING LOUD FOR OUTLOCK:
SELF-CENTERING CHUCK WITH 3 JAWS AND ROTATING HYDRAULIC CYLINDER WITH PISTON SURFACE “A” = 215 Cm² AND WORK PRESSURE “P” = 20 BAR.
CALCULATION OF THE PULLING FORCE ” Ft ” OF THE CYLINDER :
Ft = A x P = 215×20 = 4.300 Kg ( 43 KN ).-
CALCULATION OF THE GRIPPING FORCE OF THE JAWS ” Fs ” :
Fs= Ft x 2,9 = 4.300 x 2,9 = 12.470 kg ( 124 KN).

CALCOLO INVERSO:
IF THE MAXIMUM APPLIED GRIPPING FORCE TO THE JAWS IS Fs = 13,000 Kg,
THE MAXIMUM PRESSURE ” Pmax ” THAT CAN BE APPLIED ON A CYLINDER WITH PISTON’SSURFACE ” A ” = 215 Cm2 IS:
Pmax = Fs / ( A x 2,9 ) = 13000 / ( 215 x 2,9 ) = 20,85 BAR.

OUTLOCK 400 Type 400 integrates types 450-500-550
